Laying the Foundation

Tech Mahindra Foundation is the corporate social responsibility arm of Tech Mahindra Limited, a Mahindra Group Company. The Foundation, set up in 2006 as a Section 25 Company (referred to as a Section 8 Company in the Companies Act, 2013), has been working tirelessly in the areas of education, employability, and disability, with a keen focus on corporate volunteering. It operates across 11 locations in India and has established itself as a prominent CSR player within the Mahindra Group as well as a leading social organization at the national level.

Tech Mahindra complies with Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013 under which:

  • It has constituted a CSR committee of the board. The CSR Committee comprises of Mr. C. P. Gurnani (Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer), Mr. Haigreve Khaitan (Director), Ms. M. Rajyalakshmi Rao (Director), Mr. Manoj Bhat (Director), Dr. Mukti Khaire (Director) and Ms. Penelope Fowler (Director).
  • It has disclosed the above in the annual report.
  • The CSR Committee has formulated and recommended a CSR Policy and expenditure, and is monitoring the Policy from time to time.
  • The board has approved the CSR Policy and ensures that the activities included in it are undertaken by Tech Mahindra.
  • The board has ensured that Tech Mahindra spends at least 2% of the average net profits made during the three immediately preceding financial years.
  • It gives preference to local areas and areas around it where it operates, for CSR activities.
  • All its CSR activities fall under item (ii) of schedule (vii) – promoting education, including special education and employment; enhancing vocational skills, especially among children, women, elderly, and the people with disabilities, and livelihood enhancement.
